Derrick “paws” Crowder “played both offensive and defensive lineman for the Jr. Riders during the years of 2005-2006 -2007.
During his 2006 and 2007 season he and his teammates won back to back Provincial Champions (then called the Mansion Cup)
Derrick was a leader both on and off the field and had a larger than life personality and presence. Derrick graduated with honours from Algonquin College with a Paediatric HCA (Certificate). He was employed at CHEO as a Pediatric health care aid while playing for the Jr. Riders.
Football was an important part of his life and when he wasn’t playing the game he was talking about it!
Derrick passed away suddenly on October 2, 2016 at the age of 31. This bursary allows his name to continue to have the opportunity to be a part of the Jr Riders football organization and involvement with his love of football and sport.
Thank you to Max Palladino, Linda Ruckstuhl, the late Sandy Ruckstuhl, the Junior Riders Football coaching staff, players, support staff, parents and QJFL. Having this opportunity to carry on with this organization is very special to our family and friends.
